Staying Connected to the Mountains That Healed You
During your time at BriteLife Recovery at Lexington, you experienced something truly special: recovery surrounded by the natural beauty of the Catskill Mountains. Our New York location isn't just a treatment center—it's a sanctuary where the healing power of nature meets evidence-based care.
Our alumni program honors this unique connection by creating opportunities for you to return to the mountains, reconnect with the outdoor experiences that supported your healing, and maintain relationships with the people who walked this path alongside you. Whether you're celebrating milestones or facing challenges, the community and landscape that supported your recovery remain available to you.
Adventure Recovery Continues
One of the defining features of treatment in West Kill is our Adventure Recovery (AR) program. During your residential stay, you experienced transformative outdoor activities on Fridays and Saturdays—water rafting, paddleboarding, hiking through marked trails of varying difficulty, and moments of awe in nature that opened new perspectives on recovery and life.
Our alumni program continues to emphasize experiential and outdoor activities. We host alumni events that bring graduates back to the Catskills for:
- Hiking excursions on the property's marked trails
- Outdoor gatherings around the stone fire pit
- Seasonal activities that celebrate nature's cycles
- Adventure-based reunions that recreate the transformative experiences of treatment
- Opportunities to explore local attractions like ski lifts, waterfalls, and scenic overlooks
These aren't just recreational activities—they're opportunities to reconnect with the sense of possibility, beginner's mind, and personal strength you discovered during treatment.
Virtual Support and Digital Community
While we're just getting our New York alumni program fully off the ground, you'll have access to our virtual alumni groups and Life After BriteLife sessions. These regular virtual meetings provide a confidential space to share experiences, process challenges, and maintain accountability with fellow graduates and recovery professionals who understand your journey.
Through our digital platforms, you can stay connected with the intimate community you built during treatment—even when you can't make it back to the mountains physically.
The Intimacy That Made Treatment Different
BriteLife at Lexington residential program is intentionally smaller and more intimate than many treatment centers. With ideal group sizes of 12 and never exceeding 16 participants, you experienced more speaking time, deeper connections, and a close-knit community atmosphere. This intimacy allowed for authentic vulnerability and genuine healing.
Our alumni program maintains this same intimate, personal approach. You're not just another number—you're a valued member of a tight-knit recovery community that genuinely cares about your continued success. The staff and peers who knew you during treatment remain invested in your long-term recovery journey.

Our alumni program continues to create opportunities to explore the Catskills region and all it offers for recreation and restoration.
Nature-Informed Therapy as a Way of Life
During your time in West Kill, you experienced our branded Nature-Informed Therapy (NIT) approach—one of the things that makes BriteLife Recovery truly distinctive. NIT recognizes that disconnection from nature contributes to mental health challenges and addiction, and that reconnecting with the natural world supports healing.
Our alumni program encourages you to maintain this connection with nature wherever you are. We provide resources, reminders, and opportunities to continue integrating nature-based practices into your daily life—whether that's mindful walks in your local park or planned trips back to the Catskills.
The Structured Excellence of Our Group Therapy Model
One thing people often overlook about BriteLife Recovery is the exceptional quality of our group therapy. You experienced over 32 hours of group therapy each week during treatment—structured yet dynamic sessions where you addressed issues, made meaningful connections, and healed interpersonal wounds.
Our alumni groups continue this tradition. There's no winging it—we maintain the same intentional blend of structure and authenticity. This approach recognizes that addiction is a disease of disconnection most often contributed to by interpersonal wounds, and healing happens through interpersonal connection.
Clinical Staff Committed to Your Long-Term Success
In accordance with Oasis Network mandates, our clinical staff is available seven days a week, 12 hours a day—and their commitment to you doesn't end at discharge. The therapists, case managers, and clinicians who guided your treatment remain part of your extended recovery support network.
With a staff-to-client ratio of 8 clients per clinician and 16 clients per case manager, you received individualized attention during treatment. Our alumni program maintains this personalized approach, ensuring you're never just another face in the crowd.
From the Catskills to Your Community
At BriteLife Recovery, we understand that lasting recovery requires both the transformative experience of residential treatment and sustainable support in your home community. Our discharge planning process—something we do exceptionally well—doesn't stop when you leave West Kill.
Case managers work with clinical staff to create comprehensive aftercare plans that include continuing levels of care, specialized trauma treatment if needed, marriage counseling referrals, psychiatric care coordination, and adjustments for real-life barriers. Our alumni program helps you implement and maintain these plans as you navigate life after treatment.
A Growing Community
We're actively building and strengthening our New York alumni community. Your input on events, activities, and resources that would support your continued recovery is invaluable. As a graduate, you help shape a program that truly serves the needs of those who experienced the unique healing environment of West Kill.
Whether you're local to New York or have returned to another state, you remain part of the BriteLife family. We celebrate your progress and stand ready to support you through challenges, one day at a time.
Our Commitment
At BriteLife Recovery, we believe that substance use and mental health challenges stem from disconnection—from self, from others, and from a sense of meaning or purpose. Our alumni program is designed to maintain the connections you built and help you continue cultivating new ones.
We view treatment completion not as an ending, but as a commencement toward a brighter, healthier future. Your time in the Catskills provided tools, insights, connections, and transformative experiences. Our alumni program helps you carry these forward as you navigate the complexities of everyday life.
Recovery is possible. Connection makes it sustainable. The mountains and community that supported your healing remain here for you.
